Transverse Myelitis is a rare spinal cord condition caused by inflammation, leading to weakness, numbness, balance problems, and sometimes bladder or bowel issues. It can affect movement and daily function, so early rehabilitation support is important. ncbi.nlm.nih +2 At Physionyx Physiotherapy & Rehab, Dr. Niraj Kumar helps patients recover with careful, medically guided physiotherapy focused on improving strength, mobility, balance, and functional independence. The treatment is designed to support nerve and muscle recovery, reduce secondary complications, and help the patient return to daily activities more safely.

Peripheral Neuropathy is a condition caused by damage to the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, often leading to numbness, tingling, burning pain, weakness, or balance problems. It can make walking, standing, and daily activities feel more difficult over time. At Physionyx Physiotherapy & Rehab, Dr. Niraj Kumar helps manage peripheral neuropathy with supportive physiotherapy aimed at improving balance, strength, mobility, and functional independence. The treatment is designed to reduce the impact of nerve-related weakness and help patients move more safely and comfortably in daily life.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Physiotherapy At Physionyx Physiotherapy & Rehab, ALS physiotherapy is a personalised neurological rehabilitation service designed to help patients maintain safe mobility, flexibility, comfort, posture, and independence for as long as possible. Since ALS is a progressive neurological condition, treatment goals are adjusted according to the patient’s symptoms, strength, fatigue level, respiratory function, and stage of the condition. Physiotherapy may include gentle range-of-motion exercises, stretching, posture management, balance and gait training, breathing support, energy-conservation strategies, fall prevention, positioning advice, mobility-aid recommendations, and caregiver education. Where appropriate, the physiotherapist may also guide safe transfers, walking, wheelchair use, splinting, and home modifications to support daily function. The aim is not to overwork weakened muscles, but to reduce stiffness, prevent avoidable complications, support safer movement, manage fatigue, and help patients and caregivers adapt to changing needs. Treatment should be coordinated with the patient’s neurologist and multidisciplinary medical team, especially when there are swallowing, speech, breathing, or rapidly progressing weakness concerns

Spinal Cord Injury Physiotherapy At Physionyx Physiotherapy & Rehab, spinal cord injury physiotherapy is a personalised neurological rehabilitation service designed to support recovery, mobility, strength, balance, posture, and independence after spinal cord damage. Treatment is adapted according to the level and completeness of the injury, muscle strength, sensation, bladder and bowel concerns, respiratory function, mobility status, and individual rehabilitation goals. Physiotherapy may include range-of-motion exercises, strengthening, bed mobility, transfer training, sitting and standing balance, gait training, wheelchair skills, posture correction, respiratory exercises, spasticity management, pressure-relief education, and caregiver guidance. The programme may also include training for safe use of walking aids, braces, wheelchairs, and other assistive equipment. The goal is to maximise safe functional ability, reduce the risk of stiffness and secondary complications, improve confidence, and support greater independence in daily activities. Treatment should be coordinated with the patient’s neurologist, rehabilitation physician, surgeon, and wider medical team when required.

Traumatic Brain Injury Physiotherapy At Physionyx Physiotherapy & Rehab, traumatic brain injury physiotherapy is an individualised neurological rehabilitation service that supports patients recovering from head injury and its effects on movement, balance, coordination, strength, mobility, and daily function. Treatment is planned according to the severity and location of the injury, cognitive and physical symptoms, fatigue, balance ability, and recovery goals. Physiotherapy may include mobility and gait training, balance and coordination exercises, strengthening, flexibility work, postural control, functional task practice, vestibular rehabilitation when appropriate, fatigue management, fall prevention, and caregiver education. The programme may also support safe transfers, stair practice, return to daily activities, and gradual participation in home, work, or community routines. The aim is to improve safe movement, functional independence, confidence, and participation while avoiding excessive fatigue or symptom aggravation. Rehabilitation may be coordinated with neurologists, rehabilitation physicians, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists, and other members of the patient’s care team.

Bell's Palsy Bell's palsy is a sudden, usually temporary weakness or paralysis of the facial muscles on one side of the face, caused by inflammation or compression of the seventh cranial (facial) nerve. What happens Onset is typically rapid, with symptoms peaking within 48 hours. The affected side may show a drooping eyebrow and mouth, inability to close the eye, drooling, altered taste, and sensitivity to sound. It is often idiopathic, but viral reactivation (e.g., herpes simplex) and other triggers are suspected. Recovery outlook Most people start to improve within 2 weeks and regain near-normal or normal function within 3–6 months. About 85–90% recover most facial movement, though some may have residual weakness or synkinesis (involuntary muscle movements). Common treatment approaches Medications: Early corticosteroids (and sometimes antivirals) can improve the chance and speed of recovery. Eye care: Lubricating drops/ointment, eye patching or taping at night to protect the cornea if the eye doesn't close fully. Physiotherapy / facial exercises: Gentle facial muscle exercises, massage, and neuromuscular re-education to enhance movement and reduce long-term complications. Other options: Electrical stimulation, acupuncture, and in select chronic cases, procedures like Botox for synkinesis or surgery for severe, persistent cases. When to seek urgent care Because facial weakness can also be a sign of stroke or other serious conditions, sudden facial droop should be evaluated urgently—especially if accompanied by limb weakness, speech difficulty, severe headache, or other neurological signs.
